The Curious Case of Difa e Pakistan Council

Posted on 02 March 2012 by Tea Server

Difa-e-Pakistan is an Urdu word meaning Defense of Pakistan. Difa-e-Pakistan Council means a council willing to/responsible for defending Pakistan. The semantics dictate that the said council should comprise of representatives of the armed forces, the para-military forces, domestic law enforcement agencies, defense ministry and foreign ministry. In fact, the esteemed council that has come to the fore recently consists of none of the above. In the words of the journalist Ejaz Haider, it’s a “circus”.
Much has been written about this mysterious group over the last few weeks by people much more well-read and experienced than myself, thus I would restrict myself to a basic understanding of this group and the online presence of DPC.

The website of DPC lists 36 parties as part of the council. It includes single-digit member parties like Muslim League Zia, Mohsinan e Pakistan, suspicious-named organizations like Pakistan Water Movement, Tehreek e Ittehad, Christian Community( of where?), Sikh Community,  Hindu Community Lahore and notorious people like a certain General® Hameed Gul, Hafiz Saeed, Malik Ishaq, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman Khalil, Ahmad Ludhyanwi and last but not the least, representative of Imran Khan, Chaudary Ijaz.
General Hameed Gul, a former spymaster of Pakistan, was responsible for forming IJI(Islami Jamhuri Ittehad-Islamic democratic front) a similar group of religious organizations in 1988 to compete against Pakistan Peoples Party, turned against U.S when the funding for ISI was stopped, was an architect of starting insurgency in Occupied Kashmir, was removed from his position by Benazir Bhutto in 1989. Hafiz Saeed was a teacher of Islamic Studies at University of Engineering and Technology in the 1980s when he and a fellow Professor Zaffar Iqbal formed a new organization which came to be known as Lashkar-e-Taiba (Army of the pious). It was directly funded by Saudi money and collected donations across Pakistan. It was mainly involved in sending fighters trained by them to Kashmir for targeting Indian Military personnel and cantonments. It was declared a Terrorist Organization by both the United States and United Nations. Most Recently it was involved in the November 2008 Attacks on Mumbai.

Malik Ishaq is the leader and founder of Al Qaeda-linked Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. He remained in jail for 14 years facing a number of cases at the antiterrorism court in Lahore charging him with hundreds of murders. He was released from Jail on July 15 because “evidence against him gradually decayed and disappeared”. Molana Fazl ur Rehman Khaleel is a founder of Harkat-ul-Mujahideen(HuM) and current leader of Ansar-ul-Umma, which is accused of being a front organization of the banned HuM. Khalil was a signatory of Osama bin Laden’s 1998 fatwa called the International Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Regarding the sudden arrival of this bunch, investigative journalist Mujahid Hussain wrote, “In November 2011, the ISI Chief asked the Lashkar e Taiba and Jaish e Mohammad to speed up their campaign against India and to mobilize Islamists across the country on the platform of Difa e Pakistan, so that a clear signal could be sent to the international community. Fellow travelers such as Shaikh Rasheed and Hamid Gull were reactivated. A real estate tycoon in Islamabad and some rich businessmen of Karachi were asked to offer inducements. Also, The Sunni Tehreek is being propped up by the ISI as a fully fledged political party and has been tasked to garner the Barelvi vote.”

Traditionally, the parties that make up this pot-pourri are not known to be very modern or having an Internet presence. The interesting thing is that the council as a whole is more efficient in its online presence than the sum of all its constituents combined. This paradigm shift can be witnessed as DPC has its own website where all the speeches from their rallies are available and latest news related to their concerning issues are updated continuously, they have their own facebook page with 1459 Likes(till now) and a twitter account with 306 followers.
All of this fanfare is despite the fact that they are a “banned” organization(If you believe Interior Minister Rehman Malik).

The Facebook page of Difa e Pakistan Council tells us that
“Difa-e-Pakistan Council is an Umbrella Organization of more than 40 Religious and Political Organizations destined for the Defense of Pakistan and envisions the great nation as the Fortress of Islam.” It also informs us that “DPC Does not endorse the understandings and manifestos of organizations and entities that come under the umbrella of DPC. “Difa-e-Pakistan” is a single point cause to defend Pakistan by all threats it faces internally and externally.”

Upon a little digging, it is visible that the bigwigs of the council are not much involved in the Internet crusade rather it is a new batch of “Jihadis” or Internet warriors that are controlling the accounts of the council online. One particular ally is the hyper-nationalist website “Pakistan ka Khuda Hafiz”(Translation:- May God Protect Pakistan). The people behind PKKH website are Ahmad Qureshi, Shireen Mazari, Gen Hameed Gul and Maria Butt(fashion designer and recent convert to this ideology courtesy a Mr. Zaid Hamid). Ahmad Qureshi, Shireen Mazari and Zaid Hamid share a particular vision about Pakistan. They are fiercely Anti-American, Anti-India, Pro-Khilafat(Caliphate), Pro-Taliban and use the jargon of Islam to lure people towards their own agendas. They do not like democracy or politicians as a whole, and harbor sympathy towards Pakistan Army. They are known to be stooges of Military establishment and have always advocated a military solution to all problems.  Just to keep things in perspective, the following words were posted by “Syed Zaid Zaman Hamid [Official]” page very recently, explaining their philosophy in full,
“If the politicians are for sale and hostile powers are ready to buy them, to hell with this democracy. Let the country be ruled by a Benevolent dictator on the model of Khilafat e Rashida! Till that time, army and ISI must make sure that these treacherous politicians do not sell the country to hostile powers”.
Thus, while the Jalsas(meetings/processions) of  DPC are being filled by banned militant organizations, the Internet front is being held by Neo-Jihadis who are followers of Zaid Hamid, completing an “unholy alliance”. They oppose the MFN-status being awarded to India(without an iota of understanding about the WTO) and have a jingoistic attitude towards the rest of the world.

For the record, this is not the first time that establishment-backed forces have been joined together at a platform. It has happened previously in the 1970 elections, in the aforementioned 1990 elections when IJI was formed and in the wake of 9/11 when a similar-sounding “Afghan Defense Council” was formed which paved the way to formation of MMA(Mutahidda Majlis e Amal) in 2002.

The irony of this “internet war” is that most of the constituent parties have strong views about “Pictures” being Un-Islamic and they have, in the past, opposed Television and Radio, even Loudspeakers. The hypocrisy of it all cannot be ignored when the same people use loudspeakers all the time, to deliver hate-filled sermons, use Television for their own propaganda and now they have resorted to the internet, to attract the younger generation. These people are against the tenet of “Freedom of Speech” but they themselves are abusing their freedom of speech to spew hatred and bigotry. The focus of their efforts is to reach out to the Urban Middle class population of Pakistan which has got no clue about their own identity courtesy a paradox that is our “Religious Nation State”. Textbooks of Pakistan are filled with lies that cause narrowing of young minds from an early age, hatred against other religions is evident and ideologies are thrust upon immature minds resulting in a paranoid mental state. The textbooks re-enforce the image of this country not as envisioned by Jinnah but the one envisioned by General Zia(who can be considered Godfather of all the parties that today constitute DPC).

All hope, though, is not lost regarding the situation in Pakistan. The fact that almost 6 million Pakistanis using Facebook and only about 1400 like the DPC page and only about 1 lac people like the Official Zaid Hamid Page (where he has tried to re-invent himself as Syed) offers hope to the moderate factions of the society.  It is the responsibility of the moderate elements of civil society to coalesce and try to control these elements from going out of control by raising awareness and educating people. People should be educated about their role in a democracy. Efforts such as being done by Centre for Civic Education, PILDAT, Pakistan Youth Alliance, Teach for Pakistan and Youth Parliaments should be highlighted. Media has to play a very important role in this regard as well. They have to give equal representation to progressive forces and avoid excessive coverage of the trouble-makers. Government of Pakistan should also play its role by introducing necessary changes in the curricula (as has been proposed by SDPI) and taking effective measures against the “banned” organizations. This is a long war and it is not going to be easy.

Please stop staring

Posted on 28 February 2012 by Tea Server

Lets agree with us that our majority of Pakistani men have a staring problem. Either we sit on seven star hotel or waiting room of hospital we stare the women. We give very hard time to even women’s ten minutes walk from bus stop to her house irrespective to her dressing, her job and even her physical appearance.

Men from local labors to professionals, university students to school students and even old age people are found involved in staring situation. Women from school girls to university girls, maids to professionals and even hijab wearing ladies are victims of staring problem. Majority of women in Pakistan are victim of staring problem and might be smiling right now by reading this article. Nurses, school teachers, students, are big part of staring scene.

There are several relevant problems, which can not be resolved ever in our nation. But by improvising individual views and civilization we can minimize the risk for women specially working women. Similarly if we move anywhere else in this world we behave like a good kid and follow all civil and moral ethics, so why not in our own nation? It is very sad that how we rape our civilization and culture values. Promise us and your nation that you will bring positive change in Pakistan by minimizing the threats of staring scene and you will respect the women.

So lets be positive and share your concerns, feedback, suggestion in comment section. You can also connect us through RSS, Facebook & Twitter.

Do You Have Right To Judge Others?

Posted on 26 February 2012 by Tea Server

Happy is the person who finds fault with himself instead of finding fault with others.
I really feel bad whenever I see people comment on post’s of facebook pages that are about affairs of famous  personalities those belong to electronic media or politics etc. I don’t know why people feel eager to comment in more biased way and use cheapest words for them, don’t they know who are we to poke our nose into their matters or to judge them badly and gossip about their life; that why they do this and that. We are not judge and jury, it’s arrogant to judge anybody. We don’t know their whole story so why we assume. To me it’s not freedom of speech but judging others unfairly. After all no one  enjoys to being judged.
All things, big and small, invite our judgement. The condition of the weather, political matters, the taste of food, a television programs and actors etc. Judgement mostly mostly stands on criticism we should take a step back and realize our judgements aren’t always right. A great deal of our judging of others is mis-judging or unjust judging. It’s wrong to judge people unfairly.
Before you accuse me, take a look at yourself.

We all know that we are not allowed to judge others, but sadly; judging other people is our random activity, we’re all guilty of judging other people. We all are addicted to judge people who are around us, we are quick to judge other people about their attitude, looks, dressing, race, creed, sexuality, political orientation, social status, life style or anything else . In front of them we become gentle towards them, pretend to express love, affection and behind their back we brutally judge them even in front of them scold and nag them with harsh words try to tear apart their whole personality, their confidence and their image.

The act of judgement is an act of pride because judging others energize pride. We put ourselves above other people when we make judgement about them. We think we know others intentions or we know where their heart stands. It’s stupid. And it only brings us down.
Some people are insecure and feel good by judging (gossip, criticise, belittle others & finding faults) others and making fun of others to satisfy their own inner and try to cover their own weaknesses and insecurities.

We all know deep down inside we can’t really judge another person.

Making own judgement about others means we form a standard of our choice and make rules for them to follow. Individually we all are complex creatures and unique. Everyone of us has different  nature, own ways and rules to spend his/her life, we all have different situations & backgrounds, different experiences, different challenges. We have to accept the fact that everyone has a story and everyone has free will to decide what they want to do, how they want to live their life.

Any judgement we make has no basis, Allah is the Judge and He will judge the people for indeed we do not know what is in the hearts of others, rather Allah knows what is in the breasts of mankind.

Islam demands fairness and impartiality when it comes to judging others. Talking about other people on the basis of mere suspicion or hearsay and making wrong judgement and assumption is forbidden.
Allah says in Quran:
‘O believers! Stand-up firmly by the Commandments of Allah, bearing witness with justice and let not the enmity of any people incite you that you should not do justice. Do justice that is nearer to piety and fear Allah, undoubtedly, Allah is aware of your doings. Surah Al-Maidah : Ayat 8

The hypocrite looks for faults, the believer looks for excuses.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace and salutations be upon him) said, “Should you become eager to mention another’s faults, recall your own.”  (Ar-Rafi)

The one better thing what can we do is to have the default assumption about other people in any matter and we should fix, support, help, guide and teach each other to become better people.

How the Young Doctors are killing Pakistan…

Posted on 17 February 2012 by Tea Server

YDA Protesting … Again….

For a while now I have beenplanning to write something about Health Care in Pakistan. But now, given theawesome strike by the Young Doctor’s Association in Lahore, this seems to be anideal time to present my views on this and other related issues. To start with, there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind about what the Young Doctor’sAssociation is. It is basically a mafia that has terrorized and abused hospitalsand the whole healthcare system especially in Punjab. 2 years ago, they came onto the streets and started holding demonstrations against their apparently ‘low’salaries. Backed by our moronic media that salivates at any protest let aloneone by Doctors that too in Punjab, encouraged and promoted this cause of the doctorsand ensured they got what they wanted by helping them out with public opinion. Thegovernment in Punjab eventually gave in and increased the salaries of YoungDoctors working in Government Hospitals across the province. Now ideally the YoungDoctors Association (YDA) would have stopped there and just continued workingfor wellbeing of its members. Instead they basically did what the lawyers didpost 2008; they became thugs and started abusing their power. So while peopleare dying, the YDA is on strike because they are protesting the sacking of theirseniors as a result of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology debacle, which incidentallythe media had been lobbying for.

So just for your understanding, the same group of people who the media helped create and blossom in to a fullfledge mafia, who now skip out on their duties and what not, is now refusing towork creating severe issues for everyone. Starting off, thank you Pakistanmedia for your ever crap reporting and short sightedness on major nationalissues where you sell off the people of Pakistan for some crap ratings. ThankYou guys for screwing us over again.

Moving on, the YDA problem is notgoing anywhere. It shall stay the way it is, because these guys have been giventhe false sense of achievement by our media as part of their 2 year old hissyfit that ensured raises in their salaries. But what can be done is thefollowing and hopefully by doing so we can ensure better healthcare in Pakistanfor all and a weakening of YDA as a mafia over time.

We basically need to fix ourmedical education system. The colleges are fine and the education level ispretty decent so no need to play with that. What needs fixing is the entry andexit of graduates from Medical Institutions. Now for those of you who do notknow this, people who attend government funded Medical Colleges pay peanuts asyearly fees. For example, the total fee for one year at the Rawalpindi MedicalCollege is less than PKR 20,000. This is possible because the medical educationis heavily subsidized by the provincial governments by using our tax money. Soin essence, the people of Pakistan pay for the super low tuition fees thatmedical graduates pay for government medical schools. Now thing is once theygraduate, the medical students often either stop practicing (Very common incase of female graduates) or they simply give tests and move abroad. That meansthat the people of Pakistan funded cheap education for people expecting thatthey would serve Pakistan and instead they either choose not to practice the skillwe have paid them to learn or worse they just leave the country to go make moremoney somewhere else courtesy they education we paid for. Do you see where I amgoing with this? This is effectively stealing.

What I am saying is not toincrease medical school fees, but instead what I am saying is, if someone wantsto go to med school on our tax money, they need to sign a 5 year bond to servein Pakistan no matter what once they graduate. And if they do not want to servein Pakistan, they should be able to buy out their bond by paying the amount thetax payers have spent on them which is about 6 Million Rupees per doctor over 5years. This is not being mean, this is just asking for justice as a tax payer. Also just to clarify this is not valid for graduates of private med schools, who study on their own money and have nothing to do with the tax payer fundededucation system.

So given that these med schoolgraduates have undergone heavily subsidized education, it is only fair to paythem a decent wage rate that most BBAs or BSc students get. And this was thecase till two years ago when the Young Doctors Association was formed and wellyou know the rest of the story.  Theyprotested, our media made it worse, Government was forced to fold and now theyare getting paid much higher salaries courtesy the same tax payer who also paidfor their education. By now you can clearly see how wrong this whole thing is. Weneed to revamp our Medical Education system. The 5 year Bond is something thatneeds to be introduced to safeguard the investment made by the tax payer in thecreation of new doctors. It needs to be clarified that doctors are created ingovernment run facilities to serve the people of Pakistan and they are supposedto do that at any rate because we paid for their really expensive education. Also for a lot of people who say then they shall not become doctors if stufflike this happens, your choice. People tend to become doctors out of free will,no one is forcing anyone (apart from their parents mostly) to become doctors. So why expect special treatment for doing something willfully while already receivinghuge subsidies in form of cheap tuition fees. This false sense of achievementthat has been developed in young doctors needs to end and the 5 year bond is asmall step in the right direction.

If our population understood thisand took it up as a genuine logical argument, then we can possibly see an improvementin our Health Care System, where people become doctors because they wish toserve the people who paid for their education and made them who they areinstead of bullying the same people in to submission backed by a moronic mediathat would even sell death for 2 good days of ratings.

The Bar that doesn’t serve drinks

Posted on 12 February 2012 by Tea Server

A couple of days ago the Lahore Bar Association managed todo what no other bar association has been able to do so far; they lowered theirbar. They decided to ban all products by a company called SHEZAN from beingserved at court premises because apparently according to them SHEZAN is Ahmadiowned. Now you would think that being lawyers they would understand how logicworks and how an argument should be shaped. You would think that a whole associationmade up of lawyers would realize that why banning stuff based on themanufacturer’s apparent religious affiliations is a bad idea.

But you are wrong. Thinking an idea through would haverequired common sense and some actual lawyer work, so they instead chose to dothe stupid thing. And now that it is done, let us take a look at the sort of crapthese geniuses have pulled and what effects it would have.

Firstly, as lawyers they should have known that doingsomething like this would set precedence. That means that now that it has beendone in Lahore, zealots in other Bar Associations would go ahead and start makingsuch moronic decisions as well. So what these idiots have done is successfullygiven precedence for institutionalization of discrimination based on someone’sreligious beliefs. So even though right now it is just juice, they can banother things based on the same logic. It may even get to a point where theymight discriminate against people instead of just products because that istheir logic to start with. Because this specific person has religious beliefsthat are not identical to mine so anything he/she makes is banned, ergo thatperson himself should be banned too.  Soyou see where I am going with this.

Secondly, these are the same people who talk about Quaid kaPakistan and have the picture of Quaid in their Chambers as Quaid was not only thefounder of Pakistan but a great lawyer too. But with this decision they haveeffectively shit on Quaid’s image of Pakistan. Quaid built this country andassured at multiple instances that minorities will be treated equally. Quaidsaid the following:

Minorities to whichever community they may belong; will besafeguarded. Their religion or faith or belief will be secure. There will be nointerference of any kind with their freedom of worship. They will have theirprotection with regard to their religion, faith, their life, their culture. They will be, in all respects, the citizens of Pakistan without any distinctionof caste or creed. They will have their rights and privileges and nodoubt, along with it goes the obligation of citizenship. Therefore, theminorities have their responsibilities also and they will play their part inthe affairs of this state. As long as the minorities are loyal to the State andowe true allegiance and as long as I have any power, they need have noapprehension of any kind.

And if Quaid’s words were not enough, the flag was to be therepresentative of the diversity of Pakistan where the white portion representsthe minorities who are a crucial part of this country. So based on all of this, who the hell are these people to go ahead and take such decisions that negatethe very vision of our founder. How can these people be expected to uphold theconstitution and laws of Pakistan when they do not even share the vision of itsfounder.

All said and done, the point is, we all know that this is abad decision. We all know that these Bar Association people are zealots who arepushing Pakistan down a dangerous path. But what we need to start understandingis that this sort of mentality is now spreading. It is no longer the actionthat is dangerous; it is the thought that has gone in to that. The sort of evilmind that thought this up is the problem for our nation. And that mentality is unfortunatelyspreading. This was a Lawyer’s association, who are apparently educated and ifthis is how their mind is working imagine how easy it would be to influence themind of simpletons with such religious hatred fueled by moronic reasoning.

It’s the mind set we need to be freaking out on, not the nonavailability of a juice.

Why DUNYA TV can never be trusted again…

Posted on 09 February 2012 by Tea Server

For a while now there has been a discussion about the rolethat the media plays. Throughout that discussion it has always been said thatthe media is unbiased and it is doing its duty of bringing hard facts toviewers spread all across Pakistan. The assumption has been that nomatter who owned the media outlet it would be totally unbiased when it came toreporting. And yet all the viewers and everyone involved always knew that everychannel had a specific agenda and that it would always push forward its ownversion of the truth rather than just the facts.  Actually this case was made in detailrecently by a friend of mine in his article that can be found here. Sogiven we all knew this already, yesterday’s DUNYA TV episode or shall we justcall it a broadcast was one of the saddest and most disturbing things I have seenin my life.

The All Knowing….Lucman
Starting with Mubasher Lucman, who is a talk show hostsomehow and claims to be seeking justice for all and yet he is the guy who stillowes USD 80,000 to a studio in Thailand, who went on a rant over the phone saying that Punjab has Bird Flu. Then slowly like a pathetictabloid story, the longer his argument went on, the clearer it became that there was nothing to it. Butwhile this conclusion was reached, he had already blamed the Government ofPunjab about 50 times. So in recap, he blamed the Govt. of Punjab for the BirdFlu that does not exist. Funny enough this story came in print a few days ago,and upon talking to one of the office bearers of the Poultry Association I wastold that it was a rumor to bring down the price of Chicken which recently has gone up quite a bit. It is a week old story but it was soon cleared up andretracted. But Mubasher Lucman, went on National TV or whatever DUNYA TV is,and started this rumor again without any solid proof. Within hours, DUNYATV had successfully managed to play with livelihoods of millions of people inPunjab without any proof just for the sake of making Government of Punjab lookbad.

Actual FIR that was filed against Mian Amir by the Father of one of the girls killed
Then came the  news bulletins, where most of the headlineswere categorically against the ruling government in Punjab. I mean it came to apoint where it was insane; they stopped trying to hide their hatred and just went full on against them. Be it the non BirdFlu story or the Building Collapse, everything was just simply blamed and somehowtied to the Government in Punjab. It became even sadder when DUNYA TV figuredout that an FIR had been lodged against their owner, Mian Amir who also happensto own the Punjab Group of Colleges. And that is when the figurative shit hitthe fan for DUNYA TV. Within a space of 5 minutes, they went ballistic as iftheir offices were under siege and they were broadcasting live from Homs inSyria rather than from their comfy office block in Lahore. They actually hadviolin music playing in the background while they narrated the story of HOW THEGOVERNMENT OF PUNJAB HAD LODGED AN FIR AGAINST THEIR OWNER because DUNYA TV wassaying the TRUTH. Now this claim on its own is misreporting of the highestorder as the Government of Punjab did not do that. It was the father of one of the girls killed at Punjab College’s Concertin Lahore. And to prove it, the picture above is of the FIR. IF you do not know thisstory, let me explain. You remember a few weeks ago there was a stampede at acollege concert in Lahore which was played out as the Atif Aslam Concert wherethe exit doors were shut down and a bomb threat caused a stampede resulting thedeaths of three girls. Well that story was killed off very quickly and it didnot even play once on DUNYA TV because the owner of that college was Mian Amir, who also owns Dunya TV.  But afterfailing to pay off the victim’s family, an FIR was lodged.

Owner Dunya TV and Punjab Group of
Colleges
But DUNYA TV took this and turned it in to something thatcould give them political Milage by saying the Government of Punjab did this. And what is worse is while they were reporting that the FIR was filed, they didnot mention even once in 3 hours for exactly what instance was it filed instead they did their best to spread the narrative that it because DUNYA TV had raised the Punjab Institute of Cardiology story and now they were being punished for it. Logically if that were the case, GEO and Express would have been screwed over too but no DUNYA TV did not think of that logic.

The fact of the matter is, this whole episode has shown howchildish our media is. Within 4 hours, one media group for its own purposes hadspread a rumor that affects the livelihoods of millions of people and then hadmanaged to snub a story about their sister concern (Punjab Colleges) and turnthat in to a story of political victimization. All this took 4 hours. That isscary to say the least.

While this discussion on responsible media and the needfor media’s role to be well defined, we need to start moving towards specificsnow. The time for awareness and advocacy is nearly over; actual actions need tobe taken now. Things like what DUNYA TV did yesterday cannot be tolerated indecent or even semi-decent societies where a news channel can endanger millionsof livelihoods and then cry political victimization as part of its grand schemeof blackmailing a provincial government. We as the citizens cannot sit ideallyby and let this happen because it is insulting to our intelligence.  Channels like DUNYA TV cannot be allowed tocontinue claiming that they are independent and unbiased. They need to clarifythat they are agenda based news outlets there to provide cover for their owners’other business ventures because that is a fact. It is about time we startcalling things as they are instead of hiding behind the myth of being unbiasedand objective.

And just to remind you, Mubasher Lucman, who always goesaround claiming to be honest is the same guy who bought Twitter Followers. Who doesthat? And yet this guy did. So think about his mentality next time you hearanything coming from his mouth. And for your comic pleasure following is the video where he makes a claim about Bird Flu without presenting an iota of proof and the Anchor lets him go on without once asking for evidence.
