News Channels and the bullshit they spew!

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED:

On December 6, 2011 around 7:30 pm, a friend Dr. X – who also happens to be one of the most competent doctors I know working at the Gynaecology Unit in LRH – delivered a woman pregnant with twins. Once she got done, she congratulated the woman on having two alive and very healthy twin girls. The woman responded and said, “Doctor Sahab, you might be wrong. I had an ultrasound scan done earlier that showed a boy and a girl”. Dr. X lifted the babies off the cot and showed them to the mother after which she was happy and satisfied. Twenty minutes later, the woman’s brother came to the hospital from his village. Apparently he was told, that he is going to be an uncle to a boy and a girl. Once he came to know his sister had two girls, he threw a hissy fit, collected the media and put the whole hospital and doctors’ community in limelight. Ten minutes later, the news was all over the place.

HOW THE MEDIA REPORTED IT:

“Twin baby boys exchanged with twin baby girls at LRH, Peshawar” – said the first ticker on Geo. As the hours passed, conspiracy theories started rolling in. Not only were the baby boys exchanged, the lights went off at the exact same moment the woman popped for twenty whole minutes. Miraculously, there was another woman, who was delivering identical baby girls and she had the hospital’s sympathy with her because even the administration thinks that girls are a nuisance, and she delivered twin girls just when the lights went off. The babies were quickly exchanged, the other woman left the hospital (I bet they thought she didn’t even wait for her placenta to be delivered) and this poor lady was left with two girls. Horrible, isn’t it? There were so many speculations that friends from England asked me what the hell was up in our hospital.

So Dear Media Fucktards;

Hospital dramas a regular scenario in our country so I wasn’t really surprised but before you go into a tirade against doctors, kindly check and recheck your facts:

  1. There are no power breakdowns at Lady Reading Hospital. It does not go for thirty seconds, let alone twenty whole minutes. How do you think they maintain the ICU, fuckers?
  2. The probability of a woman delivering twins is 6-9 in 1000 in South-East Asia. The probability of two women delivering twins at the same time, in the same hospital, and the same unit is 1 in 10,000. Do you not know how to research facts?
  3. Ultrasound reports are not a hundred percent accurate. None of the medical tests are! Have you  never heard the terms “specificity and sensitivity”?
  4. Before rolling out those conspiracy theories, all you need is a preliminary blood group test and eventually a DNA test to ascertain the genetic component of a baby and that does not take long. Had the report confirmed it, only then are you allowed to bark about it like dogs on TV. Until that happens, kindly shut the fuck up and concentrate on issues that are of utmost importance.

RESULT:

After the MS and Board of Governors initiated an immediate inquiry into the matter, they found out that Dr. X is innocent and it was a false claim. The family apologized to the administration as well as the doctors and took their retarded claim back. Dr. X is a decent person and she let go. If it were me (considering our judiciary was strong enough) I would have gladly sued the family as well as the channels reporting the news for defamation.
