Gifts from Holy Land of Makkah!

Posted on 26 February 2012 by Tea Server

In 2010, there was a big roar about blasphemy and its aftermath. Like me, there were many people, who wanted to know the real truth behind that set-drama of saving the criminal, who was the main agent of that time’s deteriorated circumstances. Since all people belong to their own school of thought, they have therefore, their own ways to satisfy their intriguing nature. I, followed my own way and tried to seek the truth by interviewing, comparing and researching internet, different articles, and religions about the blasphemy issues. I in the end came up with these two articles. Read here and here. These two articles, gained a lot of criticism, which I had expected beforehand. However, at the same time, there were many people who appreciated me and are still encouraging.

It was a surprise for me when after 2 years, i received a mail from a brother by Islam- Ibn Hanif (Saudia Arabia) reminding me of those two articles i wrote earlier. He was coming to Pakistan for meeting his family and for some awesome photography of spring-o-Lahore. I was delighted to realize, that he is also bringing some ZamZam and ajwa khajoor for me from the holy land of Makkah as an appreciation to those articles and my efforts that were put in. What else any one could wish for? Living so far from Makkah, but lucky enough to be bestowed with the holy gifts?

After waiting for some two days, I received a big bag full of gifts-I had not expected. He is really a brother. without breaking the boundaries of Hijab, he dropped gifts at my Dad’s office. Not to mention that the meeting was arranged by me. It is such a comforting thought that with no worldly intentions, free from any type of repay, there is a person somewhere far-somewhere in the holy land, praying for you. It was equally a pleasant surprise for my father to meet him. After returning from office, I was handed over my gifts by my father. They were: Ajwa Khajoor- Most delicious one I have ever eaten in life, ZamZam bottle (1.5 Litre), a praying mat, a beautiful wall hanging, a professional sound recorder and another tray of khajoor.

I have no words to say thanks to my online brother, who devised such a sweet way to encourage his sister. Above all, without breaking the boundaries of hijab. Is anything more required to prove the level of sincerity? World still possess kind people, sincere and free from worldly thoughts.

In the end I would like to say thanks to brother Ibn Hanif. I find myself lost in the words, to choose a best word that could describe how grateful I am. Dear brother, me and my all family will always remember you in our prayers for your holy gifts and sincere feelings!
Thank you =)

Zamzam Water Facts: What is Zamzam?

Posted on 20 February 2012 by Tea Server

Zamzam is the name of the well that provides the water to billions of people, have thirstily drunk from throughout history, especially during the Hajj pilgrimage.

Zamzam is linked to some of the most important personalities in world history: the Prophets Ibrahim and Ismail (peace be upon them) and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), as well as Ismail’s mother Hajira (may Allah be pleased with her).

According to Islamic tradition, Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) rebuilt the Bait-ul-Allah (House of Allah) at the site of the well, a building which had been originally constructed by Prophet Adam (a.s.), and today is called the Kaaba (Qiblah), a building towards which all Muslims around the world face in prayer, five times each day. Zamzam well is located approximately 20 meters east of the Kaaba. Zamzam well is located in Makkah, which is the heart of the Hajj pilgrimage. Zamzam well is 35 meters deep and topped by an elegant dome. The miracle water of Zamzam is still flowing until today. Subhanallah!

“The difference between Zamzam water and other (city water) was in the quantity of calcium and magnesium salts. The content of these was slightly higher in Zamzam water. This may be why this water refreshes tired Hajis, but more significantly, the water contains fluorides that have an effective germicidal action.”

“This well has never dried up. On the contrary, it has always fulfilled the demand for water. It has always maintained the same salt composition and taste ever since it came into existence. Its potability has always been universally recognized as pilgrims from all over the world visit the Kaabah every year for Hajj and Umrah, but have never complained about it. Instead, they have always enjoyed the water that refreshes them. Water tastes different at different places. Zamzam water’s appeal has always been universal. This water has never been chemically treated or chlorinated as is the case with water pumped into the cities. Biological growth and vegetation usually take place in most wells. This makes the water unpalatable owing to the growth of algae causing taste and odor problems.”

How the Zamzam came into being?

All traditions agree that Allah (SWT) created the well to provide Hajira, the wife of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and her baby Prophet Ismail (peace be upon him) with water in the hot, dry valley they were in, around the year 2000 BC.

In her desperate search for water, Hajira ran seven times back and forth in the scorching heat between the two hills of Safa and Marwa to provide for her baby who was dying of thirst. Today, this same act is a necessary rite of Hajj pilgrimage all Muslims, mothers and fathers, must complete.

Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) settled his family there as part of Allah’s mission for him. The first thing Hajira had to do then was to look for water in the area. She was searching for it while watching at her son and would run whenever she could not see Ismail. Allah (SWT) saw her effort and miraculously blessed the spot with a water spring, at the feet of Prophet Ismail (as).

Zamzam before Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)

The appearance of the Zamzam began the settlement of the Makkan valley, where the descendants of Prophet Ismail populated the area.

But as time passed, Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail’s monotheistic message, which once dominated the region, began taking a backseat to pagan, polytheistic beliefs.

Nonetheless, the well of Zamzam retained its importance in later generations. The grandfather of the Prophet, Abdul Muttalib, was honored with the responsibility of taking care of the well and the pilgrims to Makkah.

Zamzam water: the power drink

One of the miracles of Zamzam water is its ability to satisfy both thirst and hunger. One of the Companions of the Prophet said that before Islam, the water was called “Shabbaa’ah” or satisfying. It was filling and helped them nourish their families.

After Islam, this powerful ability to quench thirst and fill stomachs remained. Prophet Muhammad said: “The best water on the face of the earth is the water of Zamzam; it is a kind of food and a healing from sickness.”

According to the Muslim collection of Hadith, Abu Dharr al-Ghifari, a Companion (Sahabi), noted that when he first arrived in Makkah during the early days of Islam, not only did he satisfy his hunger and thirst but he survived only on Zamzam water for a whole month.

More recently, in the last few decades, scientists have collected samples of Zamzam water and they have found certain peculiarities that make the water healthier, like a higher level of calcium.

Zamzam water: a cure for sickness

Apart from its ability to serve as satisfying food and drink, Zamzam water’s health benefits are also commended. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said it was a healing from sickness. This is why pilgrims to Makkah to this day collect it in bottles to bring for relatives and friends back home who are ill.

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to carry Zamzam water in pitchers and water skins back to Madinah. He used to sprinkle it over the sick and make them drink it.

Wahab Ibn Munabbah, who was from the second generation of Muslims, said ‘I swear by Him in whose possession my life is, Allah Ta’ala will relieve the person of all illnesses who drinks Zamzam to his fill and will also grant him good health.’

Zamzam water and Hajj pilgrimage

During Hajj and Umra, pilgrims are recommended to drink Zamzam water to their fill to quench their thirst. They also continue the tradition of bringing it back for family and friends.

For example, despite tight US laws forbidding the import of foreign liquids and fruits, there is an exception made for pilgrims returning from Makkah, who bring water of the Zamzam home for loved ones.

What Is Macca and Why Important For Muslims

Posted on 16 February 2012 by Tea Server

Actually Mecca also written as Makkah situated in Saudi Arabia and one of the holiest city in religion Islam. Name Kabah comes from the Arabic word meaning ‘cube’, it refers to the cube-shaped stone inside the Masjid al-Haram in Macca. The word “Macca” is so popular that it is also added in English dictionary meaning something that is most important. Holy city laid near the coast of the Red Sea. and it has total population of 1,290,000.

Maccah History:

According to Islamic tradition, Macca history was goes back to Prophet Abraham who built the Kaaba with His son, Prophet Ishmael in around 2000 BCE. Macca is the place that links to many of the Prophets that Almighty Allah sent to us. So it is in news and history books from long time.

At first Masjid al-Haram constructed by Prophet Abraham which stands upright bearing evidence of various events which took place. The Holy Quran says that Macca was attacked by the Ethiopians in the year when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) born.

Macca in the ancient era was a major trade hub. There were Idols everywhere before Islam arrived. If we say that Prophet Muhammad open His eyes in Idol world, then it is not wrong. before emergence of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the city was under the rule of Banu-Quraish.

Why Macca Important For Muslims:

As we talked earlier that it is a busy place and in history from thousands of years. But why Macca is important for Muslims. Actually the thing is Islam started it’s ground level there. Macca was the birthplace of Muslim’s last messenger Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He spent his earlier 40 years there. Then He went to Madina and after building authority, He came back as a victories and live rest of His life in Macca as well.

Secondly, Holy Kaaba also present in Masjid al-Haram which present in Macca. Millions of Muslim visited Masjid al-Haram to perform Hajj. It is also the world largest unity place for people, where millions of people gather from all races, community, countries without any difference and pray to their God. Every Muslim must need to perform Hajj at least once in life. So Macca is every important.

There are many other things that are also rememberable for Muslims such as many Prophet Muhammad’s companions also buried in Macca. Many Mosques that built with Prophet Muhammad hands. The Prophet’s Birth

Posted on 13 February 2012 by Tea Server

The Year of his Noble Birth:

According to the most correct opinion of the scholars, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam (SAWS) was born in the city of Makkah in the year of the Elephant (in the year 570 or 571CE), in the month of Rabee’ul-Awwal.

The Day of his Birth:

There is an agreement amongst the Scholars that the Prophet (SAWS) was born on a Monday, since he (SAWS) was asked about fasting on a Monday, and he said: “On that day I was born and on that day Revelation descended upon me.” (Related by Muslim and Ahmad)

However, as regards the exact date of his birth, then the scholars have differed about this. Dispite the common belief amongs people that he (SAWS) was born on the 12th of Rabee’ul-Awwal, yet the only substantiated fact regarding this date is that it is his (SAWS) death date .

Imaam an-Nawawee (d.676H) – rahimahullaah- said: “There is on agreement that he was born on Monday in the month of Rabee’ul-Awwal. There is a difference of opinion whether this day was the 2nd, 8th, 10th or 12th day of the month – and these are the four most well-known opinions concerning this.” 3

Events at the Time of his Birth:

Certain miraculous events are reported to have occurred at the time that the Prophet (SAWS) was born. However, most of them are not authentically related, rather they are da’eef (weak) or mawdoo’ (fabricated) and therefore cannot be relied upon as decisive proof; such as the narration which relates that some of the galleries of Kisraa’s (the Persian King’s) palace broke-up and collapsed, that the sacred-fire of the Magians died-out and that some of the churches on Lake Saawah (in Syria) collapsed and sank down. (Related by adh-Dhahabee who said: munkar ghareeb (rejected))

However, it is authentically related that the Prophet (SAWS) said. “I am a result of the supplication of my father Ibraaheem and the glad-tidings brought by ‘Eesaa ‘alayhimus salaam. And my mother – when she bore me – saw that a light shone out from her, which lit up the palaces in Syria … ” (Related by al-Haakim and Ibn Katheer said: “Its isnaad is good and strong.)

Celebrating the Day of his Birth:

Imaam al-Fakihaani (d.734H) – rahimahullaah -said: “Celebrating his birthday has no basis in the Book (Qur’an) nor the Sunnah, nor is this action recorded from any one of the scholars of this Ummah; those who are taken as examples to be followed and who cling to the narrations. Rather it is a bid’ah (innovotion), which was introduced by the Battaaloon (a deviated sect from the Faatimids).

As regards to the origins of this newly-invented celebration, then some of the research scholars have stated that the first person to innovate this practice was ‘Umar ibn Muhammad al-Mulaa in the city of Mawsil in Iraaq, during the fourth century, as is mentioned by the Imaam Abu Shaamah (d.665H).

He was followed in this by the likes of Abul-Khattaab ‘Umar ibn Dihyaa: “who was employed in the west, then travelled to Syria, then he travelled to the city of Irbil in ‘Iraaq, during the fourth century, where he found its king Mudhaffarud-Deen ibn Zaynud-Deen showing a keen interest in the Milaad (birthday) of the Prophet (SAWS). So he composed a book for him called at-Tanweer fi Mawlidis-Siraajil-Muneer; so he recited this to the king who then rewarded him with one thousand deenaars.”

Imaam Maalik (d.179H) – rahimahullaah – said: ‘Whosoever introduces into Islaam an innovation, and holds it to be something good, has indeed alleged that Muhammad (SAWS) has betrayed his message. Read the saying of Allaah – the Most Blessed, the Most High: “This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you and I have chosen for you Islaam as your religion.” [Soorah al-Maa'idah 5:3]. So that which was not part of the religion at that time, cannot be part of the religion today. And the last part of this Ummah cannot be rectified, except by that which rectified its first part.”

Thus, had the practice of celebrating the birthday of the Prophet (SAWS) been something praiseworthy then: “the Salaf (the Pious Predecessors) – may Allaah be pleased with them all – would have instituted it. For they were the ones having a greater love and honour for Allaah’s Messenger (SAWS) and a greater zeal for doing good.

Indeed, the most perfect expression of love and honour for him is by following him, obeying him, carrying out his commands, upholding and reviving his Sunnah (guidance and example) – both inwardly and outwardly – and in spreading his message and striving in this, with the heart, the hand and the tongue. Such was the path of the Companions and those who followed them in goodness (i.e. beliefs and actions).”

Forgiveness by the Prophet

Posted on 07 February 2012 by Tea Server

A Jewess came to Allah’s Messenger (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) with poisoned mutton and he took of what had been brought to him. (When the effect of his poison were felt by him) he called for her and asked her about that, whereupon she said: I had determined to kill you. Thereupon he said: Allah will never give you the power to do it. He (the narrator) said that they (the Companions of the Holy Prophet) said: Should we not kill her? Thereupon he said: No. He said: I felt (the effects of this poison) on the uvula of Allah’s Messenger. (Sahih Muslim)

It has been narrated on the authority of Hadrat Anas Ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that eighty persons from the inhabitants of Makka swooped down upon Allah’s Messenger (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) from the mountain of Tan’im. They were armed and wanted to attack the Holy Prophet (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) and his Companions unawares. He (the Holy Prophet) captured them but spared their lives. So, Allah (The Glorified and the Exalted) revealed the verse:

“And It is He Who restrained your hands from them and their hands from you in the valley of Makkah after He had given you a victory over them.” (48:24)
(Sahih Muslim)

Respect all human beings

Posted on 11 December 2011 by Tea Server

A seeker living in the holy city of Makkah wrote,

‘I feel disgusted when I see the Shia Iranian pilgrims roaming around in this holy city. Please, advice if I need to do anything about these feelings.’

Shaikh Dr. Hafeezullah Sukkharwi/Madani (Allah have mercy on him) replied,

‘Aren’t they human being?

This is grossly inappropriate.

One should abhor their deviant beliefs. However, every human being is to be respected and the best should be desired for him (this includes salvation in hereafter. That is, by making supplication (dua) and effort (as much possible within one’s means) that he may be guided to true faith and practice).’
