Brain Damaging Habits

Posted on 11 February 2012 by Tea Server

All praises and thanks are to Allah Lord of everything that exists. The most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment you (alone) we worship, and you (alone) we ask for help. Guide us to the Straight Way the Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace, not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger, nor those who went astray. Amen

Islam emphasizes on eating less amount of food than appetite so does the science. Islam asks to eat breakfast lavishly so does the modern science—–Now see what Chinese say about not having breakfast:

1. No Breakfast

People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level.
This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.

2. Overeating
It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.
3. Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.

4. High Sugar consumption
too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency.

6. Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.
7. Head covered while sleeping
Sleeping with the head covered increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.

8. Working your brain during illness
working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.

9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts
Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.

10. Talking Rarely
Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain.

We should adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good

Eating habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to “schedule.”                 Because:

Evening at 9 – 11pm: is the time for eliminating unnecessary/ toxic chemicals (detoxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a housewife is still in an exhausting state such as washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, will have a negative impact on her health.

Evening at 11pm – 1am: is the detoxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 1 – 3am: detoxification process in the gallbladder, also   ideally done in a deep sleep state.
Early morning 3 – 5am: detoxification in the lungs. Therefore there will sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the detoxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process.
Morning 5 – 7am: detoxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.

Morning 7 – 9am: absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you should have breakfast at this time.  Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30 am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast should change their habits. However it’s still better to eat breakfast late until 9 – 10am rather than no meal at all.                                                                                                                              Sleeping late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4:00 am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep and don’t sleep late.

Wish healthy and long life to every one!

Cayenne

Posted on 11 February 2012 by Tea Server

flower of caynenne

Kitchen Clinic:Cayenne

Looking for something to relieve your aches and pains? Look no further than your spice rack in the kitchen.Cayenne is the hot (literally) alternative to pain relief.

Cayenne contains a compound called capsaicin, which provides hot, mouthwatering (or mouth-burning depending on your taste buds) flavor and purported health benefits. In fact, capsaicin cream is sold as a nonprescription medication for the relief of nerve pain. It seems to work by reducing a chemical involved in transmitting pain signals to the brain.

Healthy Uses for Cayenne

Medical research suggests that cayenne may have the following health-promoting abilities:

  • Relieving pain, such as pain from arthritis, post herpetic neuralgia (a late complication of shingles), back pain, diabetic neuropathy, and nerve pain following surgery.
  • Psoriasis
  • Reducing discomfort of minor digestion (oral use)

However, the most convincing evidence refers only to external use of cayenne for pain relief. If you have a chronic or serious medical condition, you should not simply self-medicate with cayenne.

How Much Do I Need and What

Kind Do I Take?

To treat localized painful conditions, try applying capsaicin cream (0.025-0.075 percent capsaicin) to painful areas four times daily. Do not apply the cream to the same location for more than 2 to 3 days at a time, to avoid excessive irritation of sensitive nerves.

Precautions When

Using Cayenne Medicinally

If capsaicin cream or cayenne irritates your skin or      stomach, stop taking it. Do not apply cayenne or     capsaicin cream to broken or irritated skin, or mucous  membranes.

Capsaicin cream may increase the risk of cough in   people taking blood pressure medications called ACE inhibitors.

Cayenne is spicy and can therefore cause irritation of the skin, eyes, and stomach (though it does not worsen duodenal ulcers). Wash your hands after handling cayenne or capsaicin to avoid getting it in your eyes.

If cayenne irritates your skin or stomach, stop taking it. Although cayenne and capsaicin are considered safe for use during pregnancy, check with your healthcare provider if you intend to use them medicinally during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

In the  East it is the main ingredient of every day dishes.

Website review: Visual Dictionary

Posted on 06 February 2012 by Tea Server

Dictionaries are wonderful sources of information about meaning, origins, pronunciation, etc., of words. We have mono-, bi-, and multilingual dictionaries available in the market for reference. With the advent of internet, dictionaries were also reformed and digitised so that they could be used in computers in the form of software. Yet, guessing the things from the meaning, especially the ones which are not quite common in our context, is a bit difficult.

How do you take the idea of having picture dictionary online which you can refer to whenever you want to know what a particular thing is? Well, Merriam Webster, one of the leading names in ‘reference’ industry, present to you this visual dictionary online at http://visual.merriam-webster.com/.

Visual Dictionary Online

Colourful and loaded with graphics, of course, at the site you can see what the words represent, along with their pictorial representation. On seeing the image that represents a word, you are more likely to remember its meaning.

There are two methods: to check the pictures of the things — enter the word and search, and choose from the already present themes. Astronomy, Earth, Plants and Gardening, Animal Kingdom, Human beings, Food and Kitchen, House, Clothing and Articles, Arts and Architecture, Communications, Transport and Machinery, Energy, Science, Society, and Sports and Games are among the themes.

Clicking the theme takes you to a page where you can narrow down the topic so that it may be easy to give you a set of pictures. Later on, you browse through interactive ‘labelled’ graphics and explore the real world of words and their meanings.

Though the site is quite useful as it reveals to us the world of many fields, the site’s layout could be improved as the present one gives a cluttered impression.

However, you would enjoy exploring, log on to http://visual.merriam-webster.com/

Lest we forget——-!

Posted on 02 February 2012 by Tea Server

Hamdard enriched us with healthy, positive and progressing events and incidents. I have written Hamdard only and not Hamdard Public School because Hamdard is not limited to a school for primary students but its Madinat-ul-Hikmah (city of knowledge).

The two great Brothers Hakim Muhammad Said and Hakim Abdul Majeed spent their lives with impervious and industrious effort for promotion of health and education.

Hamdard Public School was a day dream of Hakim Said and Mrs. Sadia Rashid. Both of them saw a child running in HPS uniform while they were sitting and praying in front of Ka’aba. Both of them shared what they saw. That was the moment Hakim Sahib decided to set up Hamdard Public School.  This is how Allah granted us a chance to be associated with Hamdard —– the true and real dream that was realized!

The first badge of children may remember that there was no light and no water in the beginning. It was the passion and charisma of Hakim sahib’s persona that every one bore all hardships of electricity, water, broken road and security problems that prevailed that time in the city, very happily.

Today’s review is in memory of very devoted and loyal staff and students who passed away but left unforgettable marks in hearts and glorious footprints for the others to follow.

The ex-administrator Dr. Qazalbash was an institution in himself. He was greatly respected and loved by students for his expertise in English language and literature uniformly.

Miss. Samina Jafri was unrivaled in Urdu literature and sharp wit, died in childbirth.

Miss. Ghazala another gem of Urdu literature. She was a gold medalist too. She led a very disturbed and full of agony life led to heavens.

Miss. Noshaba the humane teacher of social studies also left us depressed.

Miss. Tarana a beautiful young teacher who proved her worth as English language teacher died of hepatitis C.

Mr. Abdus Samad a great human being and a very learned seasoned teacher passed away of acute gout and arthritis. He excelled both in Urdu and English.

Mrs. Raffat Sami’s daughter in law died in road accident. She was teacher for primary classes.

Mumtaz the young student of class five of Hamdard Village School died a tragic death by drowning in a poodle which had electric current due to heavy rains.

Ijteba the brilliant student of Hamdard departed to highway to heaven at such young age in accident too.

The loss of these precious lives is so big along with Hakim Said’s martyrdom can never be filled. We wish all of them the best of best place in heavens. Amen !

Bad Taste In Mouth As A Result Of Smoking

Posted on 01 February 2012 by Tea Server

Last week, one of my cousin called and said I have been having very bad taste in mouth for the last few days & it has made my life miserable. I have been eating chocolates, sweets etc but of no use. They all give the same bad taste ( known as dysgeusia ).

Upon inquiring, he told me that he has quit smoking, which he was doing for last 15 years, & after that he was facing this problem. Actually he has damaged taste receptors on his tongue due to smoking, so all things felt the same. I reassured & told him that Thanks to Almighty Taste Receptors have got ability of regeneration & you will soon get your taste back in 2-3 weeks time, meanwhile you have to
- Avoid artificial flavors, spices and all the synthetic chemicals.
- Take fresh fruits, vegetables & yogurt.

Now, he has responded that 80% of my taste is back in a week’s time.

New Study Advises To Check Blood Pressure In Both Arms

Posted on 30 January 2012 by Tea Server

In a recent study published in The Lancet journal, it is now advised to check blood pressure in both the arms of the patient. A disparity of 10 mm Hg or more denotes an increased chance of peripheral vascular disease, which can make the patient prone to cerebrovascular & cardiovascular accidents. A quick blood pressure check up on both the arms can early identify &  help in the correction of the problem.

Eat less——Live more!

Posted on 05 January 2012 by Tea Server

Back to life———!
My father Babuji was very right in saying that, if you want to live long then eat less what ever you eat. Do not over load your stomach otherwise you have to bear the damage and bad consequences which will make you vulnerable afterwards.
The last week of 2011 was the worst ever for me.
I am 63 almost now but feel if not 16 then 26 
I was invited on dinner. It was cold night of 29th December 2011
There were friends and families who we met after very long.
Eating rich lavish food in jovial mood with friends was fun. Quantity of intake was more than my body actually needed. I completely forgot my sensitive digestive system having diabetes and blood pressure and most of all, my age. So the cramps n rumbling started gradually increasing so much so that I had to be taken to hospital early morning before the dawn broke by my children. Unfortunately I was not treated as it should be or the agony was pre-written in my fate so the pain increased to unbearable degree. I was taken to a bigger hospital where luck favored. The doctor detected my problem n diagnosed after all laboratory tests that all my intestines are in protest against me. They have stopped working rather better to say they have locked themselves up. No gas or stool could pass out. Thus the pain aggravated. I was put on circular intravenous injections with no oral intake. It was the most agonizing time of my life. I am scared to death of needles and injections but had to welcome them being pierced in my body willingly
I could hear the fireworks on New Year’s night with cramps n tears. Well this is life! No pain no gain!
Though I am out of danger now otherwise the doctor said that if my intestines ruptured then it would have been the end of 2011 for me, before it really ended
I am sharing all this to let the reader know t hat over eating can be so dangerous. So its better to take care of health before it disapproves.
Prevention is better than cure. Eat light, simple and healthy to live long beautiful life. We can’t increase the number of breaths granted to us by almighty Allah but we surely can maintain the value and quality of health to live life beautifully.
A sick can’t even enjoy the rain, rainbow, fragrance, cool breeze and other attractive countless blessings.
Message for today from the core of my heart is to value life
Eat less to live more
My deepest cordial thanks to my children who were beside me day night and my friends who visited me and who prayed for me.
Love you all!

Eyes Contribute towards 85% of your total knowledge.
Eyes Utilize 65% of all the pathways to the brain.
Eyes Can instantaneously set in motion hundreds of muscles and organs in your body.
Eyes In a normal life-span, will bring you almost 24 million images of the world around you.
Eyes The external muscles that move the eyes are the strongest muscles in the human body for the job that they have to do. They are 100 times more powerful than they need to be.
Eyes The adult eyeball measures about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter. Of its total surface area only one-sixth is exposed — the front portion.
Eyes The eye is the only part of the human body that can function at 100% ability at any moment, day or night, without rest. Your eyelids need rest, the external muscles of your eyes need rest, the lubrication of your eyes requires replenishment, but your eyes themselves “never” need rest. But please rest them!
