3G Spectrum Auction Next Month: Chairman PTA

Posted on 28 February 2012 by Tea Server

Amid resistance, questions on transparency, confusions and other views; PTA’s Chairman Dr. Yaseen in his recent interview have yet again expressed that 3G Spectrum Auction in Pakistan will take place next month.

The brief of Dr. Yaseen’s interview as reported by Mobile Business Briefing can be read below. Some key points have been underlined.

Pakistan is to hold 3G auctions next month and is aiming to attract 15 million mobile broadband users within the first year, the country’s regulator has told Mobile World Daily in an exclusive interview.

Dr Mohammad Yaseen, chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), said that three blocks of spectrum in the 1900/2100MHz band and another at 800MHz are to be sold off, with licences expected to be awarded to at least three operators. Both new and existing market players are invited to bid and Yaseen said the country’s regulatory framework was geared up to facilitate foreign investment.

Bids will start at US$210 million for the 1900/2100MHz spectrum and US$155 million for the 800MHz licence. In the first rollout phase, existing operators will need to launch services in four Provincial Capitals and the Federal Capital within six months after being allocated, while new players will be given a year.

Pakistan is the world’s tenth largest mobile market with around 113 mobile subscribers at year-end 2011 – but has a market penetration of just 66.5 percent.

“Keeping in view the situation for fixed line broadband in the country [under 1 percent], we expect that during first year of its introduction 3G mobile broadband services will attract approximately 15 million subscribers with a steady growth afterwards,” said Dr Yaseen. He added that the Pakistan government was looking at the mobile sector as a “major contributor” to the country’s economy. “The telecom sector contributes about 1.5 percent in the national GDP on annual basis [and] is providing direct and indirect employment opportunities to more than 1.5 million individuals. [The] government is putting all emphasis on cellular broadband proliferation for further economic growth.”

Dr Yaseen said that 3G will enable value-added services such as health, education, money and entertainment. “The majority of the population consists youth who are eager and excited to enjoy mobile entertainment and Internet service on the move,” he said.

It is worthy to note here PTA has recently sought for EOIs from consultancy firm of international repute to offer services for the auction of 3G license which is due for submission on March 26, that is three-days before the Spectrum Auction date. Also some recommendations of the Standing Comittee on IT are yet to be considered.

Do not eat Fruits——–!

Posted on 23 February 2012 by Tea Server

To buy fruits and eat is not as simple as you think!

It’s important to know how and when to eat fruits.

It means Not to Eat Fruits after Meals!

Fruits should be eaten on an empty stomach. Fruits eaten on an empty stomach detoxify digestive system supplying body with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities. Fruit is the most important food.

Suppose you eat two slices of bread and after wards a slice of any fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines. But it is prevented from doing so because in the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The moment the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil. So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals. We often heard people complain every time! When I Eat Water Melon I Burp. When I eat durian my stomach bloats up. When I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet etc.

This will not happen if fruit is eaten on an empty stomach.

The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas hence our stomach bloats.

To avoid graying hair, balding, nervous outbursts, and dark circles under the eyes, take fruit on an empty stomach.

There is no such thing as some fruits like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body.

 According to Dr. Herbert Shelton

The secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight depends on correct way of eating fruits,

– drink only fresh fruit juice, not from the cans or bottles.

Do not even drink juice that has been heated up.

Do not eat cooked fruits because cooking destroys all the vitamins.

Eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice.

Drink juice mouthful slowly to let it mix with saliva before swallowing it. A three day fruit fast beneficial for cleansing your body

The magical glowing skin is seen and felt after 3 days fruit fast.

[Advice] 6 Ways to Boost your PC

Posted on 20 February 2012 by Tea Server

Just like humans, computer have health too & if users don’t take good care of there PCs they usually slow down & start halting after regular interval. If users just follow a few basic guidelines and perform maintenance tasks regularly there PCs would stay healthy & chances of halting or slowing down would be reduces to great extent. Below are 6 maintenance tasks that you can perform weekly or monthly but regularly to keep your PC running smooth as silk.

Protection against Viruses, and Beware of Ad-ware/Spyware

Viruses put your PCs at great risk. They have the potential to corrupt all of your data or even damage your computer hardware which puts your personal or confidential data at a risk of loss. On the other hand, Ad-ware is a potentially unwanted program that without your permission starts displaying Ads from different publisher and sometimes it can also display unwanted Adult Ads, while Spyware steals your private information such as usernames & password without your permission hence protection against Viruses, Ad-wares and Spywares is necessary. There are a few really effective Antivirus in the market that you can buy & install to protect your PCs, top 3 recommended are given below:

  1. Kaspersky
  2. McAfee
  3. Symmantec

Free up Disk space

Windows Disk Cleanup tool allows you clean your PC and removed all the unwanted files which slow down or take up your precious memory. You should use Disk Cleanup tool to remove:

  • Temporary Internet Files
  • Files in Recycle bin
  • Optional Windows components that you don’t use
  • Delete old unused restore points and shadow copies
  • Temporary Windows files, such as error reports
  • Downloaded program files such as ActiveX or Java applets
  • Installed programs that you don’t use

Fast access to data

Fragmentation usually happens when a large number of files are copied or a new program or new version of Windows is installed. When a PC reads a files it has to collect its bits & pieces from different parts of the Hard disk which reduces the data access speed hence also slows down your PC. De-fragmentation is an easy solution to your problems, you can use the Windows Disk Defragmenter to Defragment your disk and place all parts of a files file in one place on the Hard disk so that your PC can easily and with fast access, access you data.

Detect & repair Disk errors

As you use your PC, Hard disks start developing bad sectors that make tasks such as reading & writing to Hard disk difficult or even sometimes impossible for the computer. To keep your computer healthy, you must also use Error Checking Utility with Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter to save your PC from data loss or unwanted halts. The more frequent you use your PC, the more regularly you must be running this utility.

Learn about Ready Boost

If your using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can use the new innovation in Windows from Microsoft, called Ready Boost which allows you to use non-volatile memory such as a USB to be used as RAM without having to install any additional memory modules into your PC.

Upgrade to latest version of windows

Usually when new updates or versions of Windows come they are equipped with the latest technology, innovations, security patches, etc to improve your PC’s security, performance and ease of use — Hence whenever a new update or a new version of Windows is released you must instantly install it to keep your PC update to date and healthy.

A NEEDLE can do magic——-

Posted on 16 February 2012 by Tea Server

From a Chinese Professor.

It’s amazing and an unconventional way of recovering from stroke,

Keep a disposable syringe handy in your home. It can help somebody one day.

Excellent tips.
Do take a minute to read this. You never know, you can save a life!

When stroke strikes, the capillaries in the brain gradually burst. (Irene Liu)
When a stroke occurs, stay calm.

No matter where the victim is,
do not move him/her. Because, if moved, the capillaries will burst.

Help the victim to sit up where he/she is to prevent him/her from falling over again and then the blood letting can begin.
Keep a disposable syringe handy in your home.
Otherwise, a sterilized
sewing needle or a straight pin will do.

1.     Place the needle/pin over fire to sterilize it and then use it to prick the tip of all ……10 fingers.
2.     There are no specific acupuncture points, just prick about an mm from the fingernail.
3.     Prick till blood comes out.
4.     If blood does not start to drip, then squeeze with fingers.
5.     When all 10 tips bleed, wait a few minutes.

 The victim will regain consciousness.

6.     If the victim’s mouth is crooked, then pull his ears until they are red.
7.     Then prick each earlobe twice until two drops of blood come from each earlobe.
After a few minutes the victim should regain consciousness.

Wait till the victim regains his normal state without any abnormal symptoms then take him to the hospital.
Otherwise, if he was taken in the ambulance in a hurry to the hospital, the bumpy trip will cause all the capillaries in his brain to burst.
I learned about letting blood to save life from Chinese traditional doctor, Ha Bu Ting, who lives in Sun Juke.

Furthermore, I had practical experience with it. Therefore, I can say this method is 100% effective.

One afternoon, I was teaching a class when another teacher came running to my classroom and said in panting,
‘Ms Liu, come quick, our supervisor has had a stroke!’ I immediately went to the 3rd floor.
When I saw our supervisor, Mr. Chen Fu Tien, his color was off, his speech was slurred, his mouth was crooked - all the symptoms of a stroke.

I immediately asked one of the practicum students to go to the pharmacy outside the school to buy a syringe, which I used to prick Mr. Chen’s 10 fingers tips.

When all 10 fingers were bleeding (each with a pea-sized drop of blood), after a few minutes, Mr. Chen’s face regained its colour and his eyes’ spirit returned,

But his mouth was still crooked . So I pulled on his ears to fill them with blood .
When his ears became red ,
I pricked his right earlobe twice to let out two drops of blood .
When both earlobes had two drops of blood eacha miracle happened.
Within 3-5 minutes the shape of his mouth returned to normal and his speech became clear.

We let him rest for a while and have a cup of hot tea, then we helped him go down the stairs, drove him to

WeiWahHospital. He rested one night and was released the next day to return to school to teach.. Everything worked normally.
There were no ill after effects.
On the other hand, the usual stroke victim usually suffers Irreparable bursting of the brain capillaries on the way to the hospital. As a result, these victims never recover.’ (Irene Liu)Therefore, stroke is the second cause of death. The lucky ones will stay alive but can remain paralyzed for life.

It is such a horrible thing to happen in ones life.

If we can all remember this blood letting method and start the life saving process immediately, in a short time, the victim will be revived and regain 100% normality.

Brain Damaging Habits

Posted on 11 February 2012 by Tea Server

All praises and thanks are to Allah Lord of everything that exists. The most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment you (alone) we worship, and you (alone) we ask for help. Guide us to the Straight Way the Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace, not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger, nor those who went astray. Amen

Islam emphasizes on eating less amount of food than appetite so does the science. Islam asks to eat breakfast lavishly so does the modern science—–Now see what Chinese say about not having breakfast:

1. No Breakfast

People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level.
This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.

2. Overeating
It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.
3. Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.

4. High Sugar consumption
too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency.

6. Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.
7. Head covered while sleeping
Sleeping with the head covered increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.

8. Working your brain during illness
working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.

9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts
Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.

10. Talking Rarely
Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain.

We should adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good

Eating habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to “schedule.”                 Because:

Evening at 9 – 11pm: is the time for eliminating unnecessary/ toxic chemicals (detoxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a housewife is still in an exhausting state such as washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, will have a negative impact on her health.

Evening at 11pm – 1am: is the detoxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 1 – 3am: detoxification process in the gallbladder, also   ideally done in a deep sleep state.
Early morning 3 – 5am: detoxification in the lungs. Therefore there will sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the detoxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process.
Morning 5 – 7am: detoxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.

Morning 7 – 9am: absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you should have breakfast at this time.  Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30 am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast should change their habits. However it’s still better to eat breakfast late until 9 – 10am rather than no meal at all.                                                                                                                              Sleeping late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4:00 am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep and don’t sleep late.

Wish healthy and long life to every one!

Cayenne

Posted on 11 February 2012 by Tea Server

flower of caynenne

Kitchen Clinic:Cayenne

Looking for something to relieve your aches and pains? Look no further than your spice rack in the kitchen.Cayenne is the hot (literally) alternative to pain relief.

Cayenne contains a compound called capsaicin, which provides hot, mouthwatering (or mouth-burning depending on your taste buds) flavor and purported health benefits. In fact, capsaicin cream is sold as a nonprescription medication for the relief of nerve pain. It seems to work by reducing a chemical involved in transmitting pain signals to the brain.

Healthy Uses for Cayenne

Medical research suggests that cayenne may have the following health-promoting abilities:

  • Relieving pain, such as pain from arthritis, post herpetic neuralgia (a late complication of shingles), back pain, diabetic neuropathy, and nerve pain following surgery.
  • Psoriasis
  • Reducing discomfort of minor digestion (oral use)

However, the most convincing evidence refers only to external use of cayenne for pain relief. If you have a chronic or serious medical condition, you should not simply self-medicate with cayenne.

How Much Do I Need and What

Kind Do I Take?

To treat localized painful conditions, try applying capsaicin cream (0.025-0.075 percent capsaicin) to painful areas four times daily. Do not apply the cream to the same location for more than 2 to 3 days at a time, to avoid excessive irritation of sensitive nerves.

Precautions When

Using Cayenne Medicinally

If capsaicin cream or cayenne irritates your skin or      stomach, stop taking it. Do not apply cayenne or     capsaicin cream to broken or irritated skin, or mucous  membranes.

Capsaicin cream may increase the risk of cough in   people taking blood pressure medications called ACE inhibitors.

Cayenne is spicy and can therefore cause irritation of the skin, eyes, and stomach (though it does not worsen duodenal ulcers). Wash your hands after handling cayenne or capsaicin to avoid getting it in your eyes.

If cayenne irritates your skin or stomach, stop taking it. Although cayenne and capsaicin are considered safe for use during pregnancy, check with your healthcare provider if you intend to use them medicinally during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

In the  East it is the main ingredient of every day dishes.

Website review: Visual Dictionary

Posted on 06 February 2012 by Tea Server

Dictionaries are wonderful sources of information about meaning, origins, pronunciation, etc., of words. We have mono-, bi-, and multilingual dictionaries available in the market for reference. With the advent of internet, dictionaries were also reformed and digitised so that they could be used in computers in the form of software. Yet, guessing the things from the meaning, especially the ones which are not quite common in our context, is a bit difficult.

How do you take the idea of having picture dictionary online which you can refer to whenever you want to know what a particular thing is? Well, Merriam Webster, one of the leading names in ‘reference’ industry, present to you this visual dictionary online at http://visual.merriam-webster.com/.

Visual Dictionary Online

Colourful and loaded with graphics, of course, at the site you can see what the words represent, along with their pictorial representation. On seeing the image that represents a word, you are more likely to remember its meaning.

There are two methods: to check the pictures of the things — enter the word and search, and choose from the already present themes. Astronomy, Earth, Plants and Gardening, Animal Kingdom, Human beings, Food and Kitchen, House, Clothing and Articles, Arts and Architecture, Communications, Transport and Machinery, Energy, Science, Society, and Sports and Games are among the themes.

Clicking the theme takes you to a page where you can narrow down the topic so that it may be easy to give you a set of pictures. Later on, you browse through interactive ‘labelled’ graphics and explore the real world of words and their meanings.

Though the site is quite useful as it reveals to us the world of many fields, the site’s layout could be improved as the present one gives a cluttered impression.

However, you would enjoy exploring, log on to http://visual.merriam-webster.com/

Lest we forget——-!

Posted on 02 February 2012 by Tea Server

Hamdard enriched us with healthy, positive and progressing events and incidents. I have written Hamdard only and not Hamdard Public School because Hamdard is not limited to a school for primary students but its Madinat-ul-Hikmah (city of knowledge).

The two great Brothers Hakim Muhammad Said and Hakim Abdul Majeed spent their lives with impervious and industrious effort for promotion of health and education.

Hamdard Public School was a day dream of Hakim Said and Mrs. Sadia Rashid. Both of them saw a child running in HPS uniform while they were sitting and praying in front of Ka’aba. Both of them shared what they saw. That was the moment Hakim Sahib decided to set up Hamdard Public School.  This is how Allah granted us a chance to be associated with Hamdard —– the true and real dream that was realized!

The first badge of children may remember that there was no light and no water in the beginning. It was the passion and charisma of Hakim sahib’s persona that every one bore all hardships of electricity, water, broken road and security problems that prevailed that time in the city, very happily.

Today’s review is in memory of very devoted and loyal staff and students who passed away but left unforgettable marks in hearts and glorious footprints for the others to follow.

The ex-administrator Dr. Qazalbash was an institution in himself. He was greatly respected and loved by students for his expertise in English language and literature uniformly.

Miss. Samina Jafri was unrivaled in Urdu literature and sharp wit, died in childbirth.

Miss. Ghazala another gem of Urdu literature. She was a gold medalist too. She led a very disturbed and full of agony life led to heavens.

Miss. Noshaba the humane teacher of social studies also left us depressed.

Miss. Tarana a beautiful young teacher who proved her worth as English language teacher died of hepatitis C.

Mr. Abdus Samad a great human being and a very learned seasoned teacher passed away of acute gout and arthritis. He excelled both in Urdu and English.

Mrs. Raffat Sami’s daughter in law died in road accident. She was teacher for primary classes.

Mumtaz the young student of class five of Hamdard Village School died a tragic death by drowning in a poodle which had electric current due to heavy rains.

Ijteba the brilliant student of Hamdard departed to highway to heaven at such young age in accident too.

The loss of these precious lives is so big along with Hakim Said’s martyrdom can never be filled. We wish all of them the best of best place in heavens. Amen !

Bad Taste In Mouth As A Result Of Smoking

Posted on 01 February 2012 by Tea Server

Last week, one of my cousin called and said I have been having very bad taste in mouth for the last few days & it has made my life miserable. I have been eating chocolates, sweets etc but of no use. They all give the same bad taste ( known as dysgeusia ).

Upon inquiring, he told me that he has quit smoking, which he was doing for last 15 years, & after that he was facing this problem. Actually he has damaged taste receptors on his tongue due to smoking, so all things felt the same. I reassured & told him that Thanks to Almighty Taste Receptors have got ability of regeneration & you will soon get your taste back in 2-3 weeks time, meanwhile you have to
- Avoid artificial flavors, spices and all the synthetic chemicals.
- Take fresh fruits, vegetables & yogurt.

Now, he has responded that 80% of my taste is back in a week’s time.

New Study Advises To Check Blood Pressure In Both Arms

Posted on 30 January 2012 by Tea Server

In a recent study published in The Lancet journal, it is now advised to check blood pressure in both the arms of the patient. A disparity of 10 mm Hg or more denotes an increased chance of peripheral vascular disease, which can make the patient prone to cerebrovascular & cardiovascular accidents. A quick blood pressure check up on both the arms can early identify &  help in the correction of the problem.
