Today in a press release event held at UET Lahore, wi-tribe and KICS-UET launched a new product ‘wi-cam‘,a CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) Administration & Management tool which was developed by students & graduates of the KICS-UET using open-source technology because of its versatility & flexibility.
wi-cam would allow broadband companies such as wi-tribe itself to remotely configure, diagnose and manage CPEs while receiving instant notifications and live data from them which would result in a better customer support service from broadband companies and users enjoying seamless internet connectivity.
One of the main-points that was highlighted at the press conferance was the partnership between wi-tribe and KICS-UET was a totally new kind of industry-university partnership which is seen for the first time in Pakistan. Dr. Tanveer-ul-Haq, Vice President Operations of wi-tribe said that he on behalf of wi-tribe thanked the Vice Chancellor of UET Lahore because it is quite difficult to align up the priorities of Industry and University to work on a project but he did go through hardships to make this all possible. He continued, “At wi-tribe, we thrive on the potential of the Pakistani youth and are eager to foster innovative ideas that can elevate the local IT industry to international standards.”
