recommendation letter for self-employed candidate
May 26th, 2008I am planning to apply for an MBA from UK.
During my entire professional career, I have either worked for myself or for my family business. In that scenario, what/who is the best person to get the letter of recommendation from? I can manage the academic reference from my university but I am confused about the recommendation from work.
Thanks in advance.

I have the same concern. I heard in this case you have to get the LOR from your clients but I m not sure.Someone please update me on this.
I’m in the same situation. And from what I’ve found is that whatever field you are in get a customer, client , sales rep or whatever type of person you have had contact with and ask them if they could supply a lor. For me it’s construction, I’m in the front office so I deal with a lot of people, clients, customers, sales reps, vendors, sub contractors etc. I’m narrowing it down to the people that I really connected with and will be happy to write me a letter. It also shows a little “proof” that you indeed did work at this company. That’s an issue with HR folks. I guess they think you are lying about your employment. Your making it all up. You can get free samples of lor off the internet.
whoops “you’re” not your. I hate it when I do that.
