Lights…Camera… and the Award goes to…
December 2nd, 2008So even though the city is completely out of whack with the saddening political situation in mumbai n karachi, it was heartening to see Hum Tv give people a chance to dress up , and recognize the efforts of the seasoned, and relatively new directors, producers, writers, actors and actresses…
The Hum Tv Telefilm awards were a smashing success, despite the trouble in the city. It featured everyone important in the industry. Its Jury comprised of many prestigious members including Mehreen Jabbar, and there were guest appearances by Wasim Akram, and Sunita Marshal - the highlight of the evening was a performance by Meera Jee
who looked smashing in her lime green peshwaas and baby pink sequined shirt. Other performances featured Strings, Monalisa, and Hassan, a very talented choreographer who teaches dance at Shapes.
The set was beautiful, the backdrop was filled with a thousand fairylit stars, and orange and blue lights set the mood. The centre of the backdrop consisted of several over lapping panels of lots and lots of symetrical silver squares, which under the lights glimmered and shimmered like mother-of-pearl, and the slivers of mirrored panels enhanced the view of the amazing performances. Costumes were beautifully done by Kausar Ahmed, and the script was written by Shanaz Ramzi, the Editor in chief, who is also a prolific writer, which was very refreshing, original, and refinedly humorous.
Everything about this award show was unique - From the invitations to the set, to the guests, to the refreshments - what was especially amazing was the lamps that burned aflame to keep the open- air event warm and comfortable. The outfits worn by the guests were gorgeous and the peak in high-fashion- saari’s are making a come-back, so it would seem, in dramatic contrast, like Sunita Marshal’s black with touches of hot pink and orange. Or Sania Saeeds Fuschia saari with the deep purple contrast. Most stunning of all was Meera jee, who was wearing a marylin monroe inspired dress.
The Hum Team too was well attired, on time, and on their best behaviour, aiming to make their guests comfortable. All in all, it was an award show well worth attending. I won’t give away the winners of the show, so there’s an incentive to watch it
Keep your eyes peeled for the show to air…now, and in the years to come, because it’s goign to become an annual feature, thanks to the positive feedback
