Just Another Update

June 10th, 2009

I wanted to be quite regular at blogging (again) after the end of exams. The exam period, as you all know, left me with no chance of updating the blog regularly apart from a few updates on the Imperial blog. However the post-exam period was more of a random dont-know-what-to-do kinda time. I began blogging with a exam time story and followed it up with a few more posts on the issues. The problem was that I needed a fresh start and a new look is the best way to go about it. Hence, came this new look which has been appreciated by three people.  There are still a few to-dos most importantly a revamp of the photos page which needs to be updated with the hundreds of pics of my lil bhanji.

Although it has been a while since this theme change came into effect but there were a lot of minor tweaks required which, I hope, is now complete. Being a naive at PHP, it does take some time to find out what exactly is needed. Another change some of you might have noticed is the exclusion of Adsense. The ads are not likely to make a comeback any time soon, but maybe later.

An update on my mobility is that I got Nokia 5800 XM during the exam prep time and there was no time to post (and boast) about it.

Now that the slate is clean I will probably be regular now. I’ve been bombarded with e-mails from atleast 8 prospective Imperial students, wishing to know what life is like here, and it feels good to [mis]guide others ;)

So what am I upto these days? I think I’m getting back on track. Although I don’t have a definite plan but I’m working on having one soon. This is because my project has begun at a snail’s pace and at times I feel at loss thinking about it. I’m taking Spanish classes too which is something (the only thing probably) moving ahead nicely. The project about which I’m pretty clear now requires purchase of a certain hardware which my supervisor asked me to order. We actually had an interesting conversation after that. When she asked me to order it, I quickly responded that it’ll take atleast 3 days. She agreed and my immediate response was “err..ok…but what will I do in these days??” I think that took her by as much surprise as it did me. She presented a nice option of taking those days off or read about other stuff. I think I like the first one. Updates on the project will be maintained on a subdomain which I will link to in the next post.

I also got my provisional driving license and have to prepare for the theory test first and then the practical one soon.

Oh btw..something interesting at the end. Today begins the tube strike in London which will continue for 2 days. This also resulted in the cancelation of my Spanish calss today. The strike will effectively shut down all the underground train services which is used by millions every day. I’m guessing the buses will present a similar scene like the ones in Karachi tomorrow morning D

Since I’ve been updating the Imperial blog, someone left a nice comment on the blog which the admin loved and gave me £30 of cinema vouchers (such incentives are given every now and then to encourage the bloggers).

That’s about it now. A big thanks to MAK for regularly visiting the blog even when it was hardly being updated. I will try to be regular again..just need some encouragement )
